Virtual Happy Hours are trending... It's not just virtual Happy Hours, it's virtual anything and rightfully so. With most of the world participating in Social Distancing or being instructed to 'Shelter In Place', humans, now more than ever are looking for ways to connect, be connected, and feel connected.
So Poppy & Vine teamed up with some of the vendors from this years Wine Country Distillery Festival and created Wine Country Distillery Festival - Live! Enjoy a series called 'Meet the Makers', as well as virtual tours and tastings. Get some how-to's, cocktail recipes, and most importantly, join us for weekly happy hour!
Happy Hour Live:
Week One: Grab your provisions prior and mix up your own Tender Feelings Cocktail on Friday, April 3rd at 4 pm on Instagram Live with Splinter Spirits.
1 ½ oz. Slaughter House American Whiskey 1 oz. Amaro Montenegro ½ oz. Dolin Dry Vermouth 3 cucumber wheels
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir until chilled. Strain into rocks glass over ice (one large cube if possible). Garnish with two cucumber wheels in the drink, and the third wheel floating on top of the drink.
Week Two: Riffle through the pantry and find these common kitchen ingredients to mix up for this weeks Tea Time Cocktail. Then belly up to the virtual bar on Friday, April 10th at 4 pm on Instagram Live featuring Humboldt Distillery.
Tea Time Cocktail Recipe:
2oz Humboldt Distillery Organic Vodka
1oz Lemon Juice
1oz Tea Syrup (1:1 Water & Sugar + English Breakfast tea bag)
Build in Collins glass, add ice, top with soda water
Week Three: Let's add a little fizz to your Friday with a 'Wine Country Sloe Gin Fizz'! Grab your ingredients and join Friday, April 17th at 4 pm on Instagram Live featuring Spirit Works Distillery.
Wine Country Sloe Gin Fizz:
1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Sloe Gin
.25 - .5 oz. Infused Simple Syrup (recipe)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Egg Whites
Rosé Sparkling Wine to top
Mint, for garnish
Add gin, sloe gin, simple syrup, egg whites and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker. Dry shake for 15 seconds. Add ice, shake for another 15 seconds. Strain into a champagne flute and top with Rosé Sparkling Wine. Garnish with a mint leaf, kick back on your porch, and call it a day.
Week Four: Grab your fresh citrus and join us for this weeks Happy Hour Live on Instagram at 4 pm on Friday April 24th! We'll be mixing up a Mandarin Greyhound, featuring Hanson of Sonoma Distillery Mandarin Vodka.
Week Five: Were adding a fresh garden twist to this weeks Happy Hour cocktail, the classic Gimlet. See you this Thursday, April 30th at 4 pm on Instagram for Happy Hour Live, featuring Sipsong Spirits.
2 oz Indira Gin
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
3/4 oz lavender sage simple syrup
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 10 seconds and stain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a thinly sliced lime.
Week Six: Giving a Wine Country twist to the classic French 75. Join us this Friday, May 8th at 4 pm on Instagram for Happy Hour Live, featuring Ginny's Gin.
2oz Ginny’s Gin
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup (equal parts cane sugar & water)
Garnish: Lemon twist
Shake all ingredients (except the bubbles) with ice & strain into a flute. Top with sparkling wine & garnish with a lemon twist.
Week Seven: We're keeping on that Gin train and mixing up a Martinez... think Manhattan meets Martini! See you this Friday, May 15th at 4pm on Instagram for Happy Hour Live, featuring No. 209 Gin.
1/2 oz Partner Sweet Vermouth
1/4 oz Marischino Liquor
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a citrus twist.
Week Eight: How is it already week eight!!! Join us this Thursday at 4 pm for Happy Hour Live on Instagram with everyone's favorite local mixologist, Danny O. We'll be mixing up a 'Whole Lotta Sunshine' featuring Griffo Distillery Scott Street Gin!
Whole Lotta Sunshine:
1.5 oz Griffo Distillery Scott Street Gin
.5 oz Floraluna Wildflower Syrup
.5 oz Lemon Juice
.25 oz Amaro Bilaro
Grapefruit peel to garnish
Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker & add ice. Seal shaker, shake hard & strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Express grapefruit oils over the cocktail for added aroma. Discard or add to cocktail. Enjoy!
Week Nine: Our last Happy Hour Live is this Friday at 4 pm on Instagram and we're going out with a birthday bash! Join our Founder, Lindsay Musco as she celebrates round two of her 35th year around the sun. She'll be mixing up not one but two and maybe even three cocktails this Friday. Join in the fun and mix along with her as she kicks things off with Island Dreaming.
1 oz Passion Fruit Concentrate (you can find this at your local Asian Grocer)
3/4 oz FloraLuna Wildflower Syrup
1/4 oz Disaronno
Sparkling Water to Top
Add first four ingredients to a cocktail shaker, add ice. Shake until your hands are too cold, pour into a Collins glass with fresh ice. Top with sparkling water and serve.
